No sand transport without permits :HE

The President Maithripala Sirisena has instructed to strictly enforce the law against the transport of sand without permits from the 15th of next month, while inquiring on the operations of the National Gem and Jewellery Authority and during a discussion with its officials.

SL and China strengthen friendship and bilateral relations

Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera concluded a successful two-day official visit to China yesterday, during which he paid a courtesy call on the Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and also held extensive bilateral discussions with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, as well as met with the Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Wang Jiarui and the Minister of Commerce, Gao Hucheng.

Temple Trees's flower wall removed

The removal and handing over of flower pots which adorned the wall of the Temple Trees, to the Gampaha Botanical Garden, commenced yesterday(28). 45 thousand flower pots were used to decorate the wall of the Temple Trees. A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s office states that the flower pot decoration had been done in connection with the Summit of the Heads of the Commonwealth countries.
