SL lost 1st match in WC

The first match in pool A, ICC WOrld Cup 2015 was held at Christchurch between Sri Lanka and New Zeland.New Zeland scored 331 runs for 6 wickets and Sri Lanka could score only 233 for 46.1 overs. Sri Lanka won the toss and selected ball first.


SL 5, NZ 0 in World Cups since 2003

15-7 New Zealand's win-loss record in the last year (since the beginning of 2014). Their win-loss ratio of 2.14 is third during this period, next only to Australia (3.40) and South Africa (2.28). Sri Lanka are fourth, with a ratio of 2.14.


World Cup launched with song, dance and colour

A Christchurch crowd in the tens of thousands welcomed the 2015 World Cup in a colourful, community-focused event, which was capped off by a spectacular fireworks display. A host of cricket stars, both past and present, were in attendance, as were thousands of families, who had begun arriving at North Hagley Park in the early evening to enjoy the carnival atmosphere.


Masakadza guides Zimbabwe to win in warm-up

Zimbabwe got off to a poor start in its chase, losing openers Chamu Chibhabha and Sikandar Raza within the first seven overs. Masakadza and captain Taylor kept the side going with a steady partnership. Angelo Mathews rotated his bowlers but to no avail. Both batsmen hit half-centuries and kept the run rate around six, taking Zimbabwe past 160 in 27 overs.


SLC to clear the false allegations made by JVP

SLC wishes to state that at an Emergency Executive Committee Meeting held today(11) to discuss the Media reports of the allegations made by the JVP Member of Parliament Sunil Handunhetti and was of the opinion that all the allegations made were baseless and done with malicious intent to discredit the Executive Committee and more over the Secretary.
