MR leaves for India today To deliver keynote address at Delhi conference

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is commencing his tour to India today (10) to participate in discussions with many a notable politician of the governing party, as well as the Opposition.


The discussions are to be held on 12 September, in India’s Capital New Delhi. The former President is to deliver the keynote address at the conference. He is expected to give a special talk on the defeat of the terrorists and the post war development of the country. Only Namal Rajapaksa, the Hambantota District M.P. is accompanying his father, the former President, on this tour.

The other specialty is, the Indian Foreign Affairs Ministry, the Indian High Commission in SL and the office of the former President are only coordinating this meeting without the Foreign Ministry of Sri Lanka being directly involved. India has made arrangements to accord the best welcome and provide the maximum security to Rajapaksa on this tour.


Not only Sri Lanka but even other countries in the zone are focusing their special attention on this five-day tour which will conclude on 13 September.
