UN Chief: 'Climate Change Moving Faster Than We Are'

U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres warned Monday that climate change is moving faster than efforts to combat it and that the international community needs to “put the brake” on greenhouse gas emissions, which drive global warming.

PRIME MINISTER IN VIETNAM

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday arrived in Hanoi, Vietnam to participate in the 7the World Economic Forum on ASEAN.Picture shows Vietnam’s Acting Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung receiving the Prime Minister on arrival at the Noi Bai International Airport. Speaker meets Indian pm

A Parliamentary delegation led by Speaker Karu Jayasuriya met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday. The Speaker and Indian Premier Modi held bilateral discussions for about 45 minutes. The Sri Lankan delegation also included Ministers Nimal Siripala de Silva, Rauff Hakeem, Gayantha Karunathilake, Mano Ganesan, Opposition Leader R.Sambanthan, MPs Douglas Devananda and Vijitha Herath and Parliament Secretary General Dhammika Dasanayake.

CID wants to question Gota and Fonseka again

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) yesterday (10), informed Additional Magistrate Mount Lavinia (MTL), Lochana Abeywickrema that they will need to once again record statements from former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa and former Army Commander Field Marshal and Minister Sarath Fonseka in connection with the journalist Keith Noyahr, abduction and assault case.
