The Joint Opposition(JO) will hand over a letter to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption claiming that no action has been taken to investigate complaints made to it concerning 10 Ministers of the good governance Government.
Parliamentarian Mahindananda Aluthgamage told Ceylon Today that the letter would be submitted today (22).
He said that 10 MPs had filed a complaint with the Commission regarding the delay to investigate alleged corrupt dealings to the tune of Rs 130 billion.
“The first complaint was lodged on 16 August, 2016. And other complaints were lodged during the same period. The Commission has not initiated investigations into those up to now. No one has been summoned or questioned regarding this. Instead of doing so, they summoned us and questioned us on why we had complained.”
He added that they had complained against 10 powerful Ministers in the current Government, including Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Malik Samarawickrama and Kabir Hashim.
