France gives World Cup winners a heroes’ welcome home

Paris, Tuesday: The World Cup-winning French team returned home to a heroes’ welcome on Monday, parading down the Champs-Elysees as hundreds of thousands of cheering fans gave a raucous welcome to the country’s newest idols.


SL-Singapore FTA need of the hour: Malik

The Free Trade Agreement (FTA) signed between Sri Lanka and Singapore to liberalise and facilitate trade and investments between the two countries was identified as the need of the hour and driving force to reach development targets, Strategic Development and International Trade Minister Malik Samarawickrama told Parliament yesterday, rejecting any downsides from the agreement which received Cabinet approval on 16 January 2018.


Dept. of Commerce wins historic export judgment in US trade court

Sri Lanka has won the first ever revocation of countervailing duty imposed in the US for a Lankan export, under a case filed by the Department of Commerce to assist its tyre exports.The US Court of International Trade on 11 July ruled that the 0.95% countervailing duty attributed to the guaranteed price scheme on the import of off-road OTR tyres from Sri Lanka be removed.
