NITF allocates Rs 90M for emergency relief
Rs 90 million has been so far allocated, by the National Insurance Trust Fund (NITF), for emergency relief expenses, Chairman of the NITF Manjula de Silva said. However, he went on to note that when the full claims are recorded and notified, the money allocated thus far may increase by Rs100 million.
Call to reduce price of chicken
The All-Island Poultry Business Owners (AIPBO) has requested the government to reduce the price of a kilogram of chicken by Rs 75 and to introduce a standardized price for corn, a widely used animal fodder in the industry. AIPBO Chairman Ajith Gunasekara said that the poultry industry is witnessing a collapse due to the lack of concessions when it comes to the supply and availability of appropriate animal food such as corn and other grain products.
